High-Performance Luxury Cars

The world’s most prominent luxury car manufacturers have established reputations for engineering opulent, high-performance vehicles. From a Porsche 911 Turbo S to a Bentley Bentayga, these cars offer an immersive automotive experience.

But are they worth the price tag? Luxury cars often have superior materials, advanced technologies, and cutting-edge safety features.

Porsche 911 Turbo S

In the Porsche 911 Turbo S, power meets beauty and comfort. It’s one of the fastest sports cars in the world and offers a thrilling driving experience. Owners love the car’s exceptional performance and beautiful design. Many say it’s the best high-performance luxury car they’ve ever driven.

The new Turbo S is powered by a turbocharged six-cylinder boxer engine with two variable turbine geometry (VTG) turbochargers that deliver a staggering 478 kW (650 PS). It can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds, reaching a top speed of 330 km/h.

Visually, the new 911 Turbo S features wider hips, enlarged air intake openings, and 20-inch wheels with 255-section tyres. A larger front spoiler and a more muscular rear wing add downforce for improved handling. Adaptive aerodynamics include controlled cooling air flaps at the front and a modified control strategy for the rear wing.

With 640 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, the Turbo S can rocket to 60 miles per hour in just 2.6 seconds. Porsche’s PDK transmission and carbon-ceramic brakes provide superior acceleration and stopping power.

McLaren 720S

A McLaren at this price point is no ordinary car, and the 720S is no exception. Its iconic dihedral doors open upward in an arc-like motion to enhance the imposing stance of this supercar and allow for seamless access into the cabin.

This car is a track-focused beast with a 212mph top speed, but it can also be an everyday driver. McLaren’s bespoke MSO Bespoke program allows buyers to choose their paint, fabrics and leathers, so this is truly a one-of-a-kind vehicle.

Its interior is purposeful and clutter-free, with a mini tablet infotainment display power-folding into the dash to reduce complexity. Shift buttons live on the steering wheel, drive modes toggle on the instrument cluster, and all controls are within easy reach. This is a space designed for the act of driving, and it’s the best example yet of why McLaren’s cars are so unique.

Aston Martin DBS Superleggera

As if to prove the point that you can’t get something for nothing, Aston Martin has added a 007 Edition model to its DBS Superleggera line. The special coupe pays tribute to the car used by James Bond in “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.”

Like all Aston Martins, the DBS Superleggera is a refined, luxurious spectacle, but this one is all about the performance. It’s blisteringly fast and looks great, particularly when draped in British Racing Green.

Underneath those hood strakes is the same 715-hp twin-turbo V12 found in the DB11. That makes the DBS Superleggera a potent sports car, capable of dispatching its 0-60 time in just 3.4 seconds and reaching 211mph.

The DBS’s performance is backed up by excellent handling. Large carbon-ceramic brakes and the traction control system help keep the car on the ground, and its electrically assisted steering is weighted to allow for quick direction changes.

Ferrari 812 Superfast

The Ferrari 812 Superfast is a car that stirs the soul, making your heart beat with every push of the accelerator and twist of the steering wheel. It’s a Ferrari that demands respect, pushing the boundaries of performance and design to deliver an experience unmatched by any other car on the road today.

In a straight line, the 812 is nothing short of spectacular, with its 2.8-second 0-60 time vaulting it into the modern pantheon of supercars. It comes alive at the track, though, where its massive 15.7-inch front and 14.2-inch rear carbon-ceramic brakes are ready to pounce on any corner, slamming it with such force that they make you wonder whether the tyres made contact.

It’s worth noting that the 812 is a two-seater, with just enough room for tall adults to sit comfortably without touching shoulders. Its cabin is crafted with an evocative design that pays tribute to Ferrari’s history of front-engine layouts and how style and aerodynamic function are fused together to produce innovative solutions and forms.

Lamborghini Huracan Performante

With 640 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque, the Huracan Performante lays down the gauntlet to Ferrari and McLaren in terms of outright pace. And though it doesn’t quite reach those speeds, its micron-perfect throttle response and pedal proportionality make it a formidable rival.

When it first debuted last year, the Performante smashed the Nurburgring lap record by over 13 seconds and was, at that point, the fastest naturally aspirated car to ever spin its tyres around the Green Hell.

The 5.2-litre V10 now has titanium valves that reduce inertia and boost power to 630 horses, enough to push the car to 60 mph in just 2.3 seconds. That kind of performance requires a supercar that can take a beating, so the Huracan Performante is built from light and durable materials like carbon fibre and Forged Composites.

Lamborghini also reworked the interior, with vents and shift paddles made of the same carbon composite to cut weight. Dark microsuede is applied liberally to keep you firmly planted in the seat, and the front splitter and rear wing are made of Forged Composite for a marble-like camouflage look.
