The luxury experience doesn’t have to be elusive. Affordable luxury cars offer the same prestigious branding and sophisticated features as their high-end counterparts but with reasonable price tags.

These models feature efficient turbocharged fours, premium materials and advanced technology. Some also come with hybrid or electric powertrains for greater fuel efficiency and emissions reduction.

Acura TLX

The TLX isn’t as spacious as other small luxury sedans, but it has roomier rear seats than the BMW M340i and Audi A4. Acura also includes many optional features in those rivals, like adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist.

Its exterior design signals agility and power, with a diamond Pentagon front grille and new four-lamp Jewel Eye(r) headlights. Inside, it feels more refined than its predecessor, with premium materials like authentic aluminium and open-pore wood. Mercedes-Benz CLA

In an era where crossover SUVs are more prevalent than small sedans, the 2024 Mercedes CLA offers buyers a premium-brand four-door, eye-catching and functional car. The coupe’s expressive styling includes frameless door windows and a roofline that tapers off in a sporty coupe-like way.

This version gets a mild-hybrid powertrain and Mercedes’ latest MBUX infotainment system that lets drivers control the vehicle with natural speech (think, “Hey Mercedes, set the temperature to 78 degrees”). Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration are standard.

The Mercedes CLA’s spirited driving dynamics help it stand out in this class. Its precise steering and agile handling inspire confidence even if you’re not an exceptionally experienced driver.

Audi A3

Audi’s sedan remains a solid choice for drivers who want a small luxury car that’s enjoyable to drive. Its turbocharged engine is handy on the street, offering plenty of low- and mid-range power for around-town cruising. Its steering is light but precise enough to tackle tight parking spaces.

You’ll find a premium feel throughout the cabin, with upscale materials and industry-leading technology. A large infotainment screen and several available upgrades enhance the high-end feel. However, the A3’s 10.9-cubic-foot trunk is stingy if you need extra storage. Other models in the line offer more space.

Lexus UX

The UX is a stylish entry to the Lexus lineup, with a design that breaks away from the conventional solid-crossover look. Its compact shape communicates agility and fun-to-drive qualities, while its robust shape expresses a sense of security.

It’s available in head-turning Sonic Copper and features unique elements like a black roof rail and black roof. A power tilt-and-slide moonroof adds to the luxury, and a head-up display is also available. Upgrade to the UX 250h F SPORT Design for sportier design touches and a more aggressive driving mode. Mercedes-Benz A-Class

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz A-Class packs a lot of luxury into its small package. Its on-brand styling and admirable acceleration make this one of the best entry-level luxury cars to drive.

However, the cabin’s cheap materials can be a turnoff for some buyers. The rear-seat room is less spacious than rivals like the Audi A3 and BMW 1 Series.

Fortunately, the base A 220 comes reasonably well equipped and includes Mercedes’ four-year/50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. Upgrade to the A 35 or A 250e plug-in hybrid for even more equipment and performance options. Both sprint to 62mph in just over five seconds and have an electronically limited top speed of 155mph.

Genesis G70

In a sports sedan segment long dominated by the Teutonic power trio, Genesis is an upstart that walks the performance-luxury line as well or better than the old guard. The 2025 G70 is seven years into its first generation but is still a strong rival for revered German models, offering stout power with either a 300-hp turbo four or 365-hp twin-turbo V6.

Its upscale interior is beautifully assembled with top-of-the-line materials, intuitive technology, and spacious accommodations. However, the back seat and trunk are relatively small by luxury standards.

Five selectable driving modes optimize the steering, suspension, and engine performance. The G70 also has three years of free maintenance and a best-in-class warranty.

Volvo S60

The S60’s taut and steady ride is impressive at highway speeds. Even slight undulations and expansion joints are absorbed, and there’s little vertical movement inside the cabin.

Volvo’s tablet-style infotainment system is easy to use and includes a multipurpose knob with pictograms to control more complex vehicle functions. It also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A Bowers & Wilkins audio system elevates the listening experience.

The S60 has a serene and uncluttered interior, which feels upscale. Its standard panoramic sunroof allows natural light to fill the cabin, and you can select seat upholstery materials that range from Nappa leather to tailored wool.

Jaguar XE

The Jaguar XE is hard to beat if you want a British take on German sports luxury. Even in its highest-spec R-Dynamic HSE trim, the Jag undercuts a comparable BMW 3 Series or Mercedes C-Class for thousands of pounds less.

The XE’s looks may not be the most memorable in its class, but it’s handsome and distinctive. Its four-cylinder Ingenium engine lineup doesn’t have the lusty, mechanical charm of Jag’s traditional large saloons, but they deliver refined, flexible and economical motoring in all spec levels. Front-seat passengers will be comfortable, though rear headroom is tight.
